Time Travel Tuesday

Join me in a trip back to yester-year! Yep, it's Tuesday. And while there is nothing really exciting about Tuesdays (except book release days), I figured I'd start a Tuesday posting on some flashbacks of my youth. If you'd like to share something, by all means, go post something! I'd love to read your story!

I was watching a membership drive for my local PBS station, and they had a DVD selection of the best of Carol Burnett. They showed some skits and interviews. It was great. I have to say, I loved Carol Burnett. It was all sooo great. So, I have the infamous Went With the Wind skit. It's really long but in it's entirety. Enjoy.

Work Excitement

So, it was very exciting at work the other day. I'm a lunch lady at our local High School. I'm working the cash register and halfway thru 2nd lunch a certain Senior student got upset about something. Honestly he's always upset about something...Anyway, he starts yelling at me. Keep in mind he's like 6'2" and probably 200 lbs. I'm not.... He starts getting in my face about something random, and I'm all "My names not Hey!"

He's all "You shut up..."

I'm all, "No, you are not talking to me that way, take your business to my boss...over there,"

He's all " I'll talk to you any way I want...blah blah blah"

Then a couple of minutes later, Sandra a coworker sees a mouse. Yep, I freak! It's a tiny little grey/brown fella, but I'm climbing the walls. Ack!!! For the record, it's not easy to run a register, and do dishes, from the top of a chair....

So what does that say about me, that I wasn't scared of 200 lbs of angry teenage male, but completely freaked out by a tiny mouse.

Then Michelle, another coworker says she has seen a mouse too, only hers is black and has no tail....zoinks! and double zoinks!!

Time Travel Tuesday

It's tuesday and Cindy from Cindy Reads Romance had the great idea of remembering stuff from our childhood. So last week, I posted about the Go Go's and awesome!!! So today, is again TTT! I've been thinking about the music/tv/and movies that I loved from yesteryear! And immediately I went to the best little show that was....Square Pegs! Yep! "Square Pegs, Square Pegs, Square-square Pegs..." Loved, loved, LOVED, that show! Felt very square most of my adolescence! So enjoy this little blast from the past!!!

Spring Break!!!

So it's spring break 2009! Right, so the image of spring break can be many things. Skiing, and the fun road trip to get there. Rental lodges, snow, fireplaces...fun! Or, sunning on the beach. Cabanas, bathing suits, bonfires at night.

So what are MY plans? Well, it's like Housewives gone wild...Spring Break=Spring Cleaning!! Yeeeeeaaaaaa!! I know, you're jealous! Don't Hate...Appreciate!!

So it's time to rally the troops! Call out the National Guard! First we'll focus on the kitchen and the pantry/laundry room. Then the rest of the downstairs ought to be fairly easy, except since the last time we shampooed the carpet Athena seems to be trying to "reclaim" that. Glck!!

Then we travel upstairs! The loft is a hovel. There are old toys, and an old computer burial ground in there. The girls rooms, just need to be clean, but they are fairly well organized. That leaves my room. I have to admit, that it's the last one to get any attention. I still have a box or two that we haven't unpacked since moving in (May 06). Yea, I know!! I need serious organization. I hope to post more books on Paperbackswap, and need to seriously purge my closet. I have clothes I haven't worn in 2 years or more. Why do I keep that stuff around? I'm hoping the weather turns nice, so I can open the windows and crank the radio! Woo Hoo!!! I'll probably have to unplug the computer or I'll get distracted. Ya know.. the more I'm thinking about it, I might start in my room.

I need to repaint the stairwell and loft for sure. I doubt I'll get to that this week though. I'd like to get some reading done too. I mean I have about 30-40 books waiting for me. ***rubs hands together greedily***

So, we'll see if I get much of anything done other than reading.

You Would Win Best Costume Design
You are imaginative, artistic, and very unique. You are a natural designer.
You can picture entire movies in your head. You are incredibly visual.

As long as you can remember, you've always had a flare for fashion. You like to experiment with looks.
You like dressing up in costumes and outfits. And not just for Halloween!

Time Travel Tuesday!!

I've really enjoyed a friend's blog where she posts Time Travel Tuesday! Every tuesday she revisits a blast from her past. So, I've decided to do the same this time. Monday my kids and I were watching Dancing with the Stars. (love that btw) And Belinda Carlisle was a "dancer". I was all " that's Belinda Carlisle! "

The girls were all, "Who's that?"
I was all, "What?! She's was the lead singer of The Go Go's!"
They were all, "What's that?"
I was all, "Only the best Girl group of...ever!!!"
They were all..."huh?!"

So off to you-tube I went and found some videos. None of which were great, but here is my Time Travel Tuesday-Girl Band-Blast from the Past! Enjoy!!

I know! It's been a while.

I know! I know! It's been a while. It's been a really busy 2009..

Then we get to February. It's not even halfway over and already 2 of us have gotten sick. Autumn got the flu, she got better quickly, I however got the cold and am taking forever to heal. However, I get to do some great reading. Did you know that if you load the bottom of your feet with Vicks and wear socks to sleep, it'll keep you from coughing during the night? I also heard another home remedy for a fever is to put the peel from a raw potatoe on top and bottom of your foot and wear socks. Who knew? So, the humidifier is crankin' and I learned never to take Musinex on an empty stomach. I also find that I sleep with the sheet covering my mouth and nose when I'm sick. Why is that? hmm! I also drink peppermint tea when I'm "under the weather". I have to be really really cold, or sick to drink hot tea. I'm a died in the wool Texas girl, and we prefer our tea iced and sweet.

2008

As I ponder the last year it strikes me as a year of growth and change for me. I've read some great books and savored every minute. I've spent some great time on Shelfari.com and met some really fun people. They have introduced me to many new authors and some new reading challenges. As a matter of fact, I'm getting brave this year and hosting a reading challenge on my other blog. I've participated in several reading challenges too, and started keeping track of the books I read. I read approximately 106 books in 2008. I'm fairly certain I forgot a few, but 106 is not too shabby. (stretching so I can pat myself on the back!)

Also this year saw me finding new ways to serve the church this year. I was a camp counselor the first week we went to camp, but then we went back for a second week, and I helped in the kitchen. That was fun. I also, helped with the International Singles Conference over Labor Day. We got to spend some great time with the other members of the AV team. (And eat some good food, if I do say so myself.)

We sold a couple of litters of puppies, and that is always exciting.

This fall saw my elder daughter starting Intermediate School. My younger is in 2nd grade. Then I found a job. It took a while, but I think I found one that is a really good fit for the family. I'm a Lunch Lady. Woo Hoo! So, I get all the days off that the kids do, and I can take them to/from school every day. It's not a glamorous job, but it'll be a little extra money. (Can't argue with that!)

This year also saw me reconnecting with friends from High School. That's been really fun. Some of them will be able to be lifelong friends and some won't. That makes me sad, but what can I say. Some friends I miss already.

2008 saw also some history making moments that I'm proud to have been a witness to. I'm proud of a country that is finally ready to elect a minority to it's highest office. I know it was an emotional election and for many, that passion has led to fear and disappointment, but I'm proud.

I hope and pray that 2009 will bring more growth for myself, my country, and my friends and family.

Happy 2009 to you and yours.

Winter Reading Challenge

Well, it's that time again! The Winter Reading Challenge has begun! Yay! It's were I read 15 books whose titles meet certain criteria..(like A title with a "D" word for December...) It's a lot of fun. I mostly (ok, pretty much only read romance!) so all my titles are romance titles. I'm trying some new authors, recommended by the gals on shelfari, so we'll see how that goes. I'm trying for all fifteen, and trying to finish 6 by the end of December so I can have met a goal to read 100 books in 2008! I was way ahead of schedule, but now that I'm working...I'm falling behind. Hmm! Go figure! :)

If you are interested in my book list for the Winter Challenge or are interested in reading romance feel free to check out my other blog http://justyouraveragecarpoolqueen.blogspot.com/

That blog is almost entirely devoted to book reviews and some of my reading challenges.

So, Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, it's off to read I go! (skips off with an armload of books whistling)
